Planned Water Shutdown – Tuesday, August 25

Sheboygan Water Utility will be completing planned water main work on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 near Erie Ave. Customers within the affected area will experience a temporary interruption of water service.

Planned shutdown:

Tuesday, August 25
8:00 a.m. – approximately 3:00 p.m.

The affected area is shown on the map and at https://sheboyganwater.org/outages

Customers impacted by the shutdown have been notified by door hanger and phone call using the phone number on file with the Utility.

Crews will work to complete the planned work and restore water service as quickly as possible. Please be aware that shutdown and restoration times are approximate.

Before the Shutdown

Customers in the affected area are encouraged to prepare:

  • Fill a couple of buckets with water for cooking, washing, and flushing toilets. A toilet can be flushed by pouring approximately one gallon of water directly into the bowl.
  • Fill a potable water container with water for drinking.

During the Shutdown

  • Avoid operating water faucets while service is shut down. This will help prevent air from entering your home's plumbing.

After Water Service is Restored

Water may temporarily appear discolored after water main work. Do not use this water for consumption.

To flush your plumbing:

  • Turn on cold water from a faucet closest to your water meter and allow it to run until the water clears.
  • If the water does not clear within 5–10 minutes, turn it off, wait approximately 30 minutes, and try again.
  • Do not use hot water or a faucet connected to your home's filtration system while flushing. Doing so may draw debris into your water heater or filter system.
  • You may hear a knocking sound while flushing. This is common and is caused by air in the water line that needs to be flushed out.
  • If you notice reduced water flow from a faucet, check and clean the faucet aerator (screen), as debris may have collected there.

If cleaning the aerator does not restore normal water flow, please contact Sheboygan Water Utility during normal business hours for additional guidance.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while our crews complete this necessary water main work.
