Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office has announced that the Sheboygan Water Utility will receive $2.0M in directed spending federal appropriations for its Raw Water Improvements (RWI) project. These funds will directly offset borrowing for the major infrastructure improvement project. According to Superintendent Joe Trueblood, “It is extremely rewarding to have Senator Baldwin’s support for this critical infrastructure replacement project that will serve the Sheboygan area community for decades.” The project includes installation of a 6,500 foot intake pipeline in Lake Michigan, a shore well to receive the lake water, and a pumping station to send it through the water treatment plant. The project is expected to begin construction in June 2022 with CD Smith Construction as the general contractor.
